2 Cases of Congenital Choledochal Cyst

Abstract
There were 2 cases of congenital choledochal cyst which were operated at Paik Foundation Hos
pital last year.
A case was a female baby of 16 months of age who had an adult head sized giant cystic mase
occupied in the entire abdominal cavity. Modified Roux-en-Y choledochocystojejuostomy and catheter
extrenal drainage were performed.
Catheter choledochocystograms 3 weeks and 11 weeks after operation showed gradual decrease of
the size of the cyst to an egg sized one. THe catheter was removed 13 weeks after operation accid
ently, but the wound was healed 6 days later without a fistula. She has been followed up for 9
months, and she is quite well and lives normal life with normal growth.
The other case was a virgin of 20 years of age who was operated under the diagnosis of acute
cholecystitis with gall stone. An egg sized cystic mass which has no stone was found. Cholecystect
omy and removal of a stone from proximal common bile duct with insertion of T-tube were
proformed.
The choledocha cyst was remained without handling because of its small size and not direct cause
of the primary disease.
She has been folloed up for 1 year, and she is quite well now.
